Donor data

How one arts organization's recognition rules reshaped our donor model

Anonymity, household salutations and a business card that had corrupted the same record for six years.

Takeaway

Recognition is not a display concern. Treating it as one had produced six years of incorrect receipts in their existing system.

Another design-partner session, again written up with permission. No live data has moved into Beneora for this organization.

The record that started it

A long-standing donor gives through her business card. Her existing system holds one name field, so the receipt, the salutation and the programme credit had all silently used the business name since 2020. Nobody had complained; nobody had checked.

What changed in the model

  • Anonymity became a preference on the donor, enforced across donor walls, leaderboards and impact updates rather than per report.
  • Household salutation became a required field on the household, because their statements are household-addressed.
  • Payer identity was separated from legal donor so business-card giving stops rewriting the relationship.

Honest status

The donor model changes are implemented in the prototype and the duplicate-review flow demonstrates them. Import of their real donor file has not happened.

We write these from partner sessions

If this matches your week, a working session is the fastest way to make the product fit it. Partners see the honest status of every module and are never charged for a prototype.
